We got to see RDB again in our very own OAT. Such movies are best suited to the OAT ambience.. Cos the enjoyment becomes a community affair in the sense of hanso saath saath, applaud saath saath.
Whenever positive scenes of laxman and aslam came up on screen, students lauded, whistled and clapped in the gallery. I guess close-knit communities have the danger of shortsightedness. So when people do come out of the cliquish groups, they will realise that things are not as bad for them as they think.
Much hooplah is going on abt prophet muhammad's pics in the papers. Ignore baba.. kisi ke kehne se kuch change nahi hota. The prophet himself used to forgive other's ridicule. Those who are out to exercise their "freedom of expression" expect us to react this way and we have been doing everything to please them.
PS (23.2.2k6) - I at times find great wisdom in the Letters to the editors section of The Hindu. This is what people had to say about this issue :
A strong faith should not be shaken by childish attempts to denounce it. (21st Feb)

Well u are right in pointing out the hoopla surrounding the cartoons but as someone said
"Freedom of expression is not absolute. It has overarching principles. If freedom of expression is absolute, then freedom of religion in a democratic dispensation should also be absolute." The human slaughter is really unfortunate but the peaceful protests justify their cause....c'mon any dom, dick or harry can't riducule Islam!

yeah true but i feel those newspapers wouldnt have got this much publicity in the first place if we had ignored them.. those who exercise their freedom of expression this way are not even mature enuf to understand wat it means. so we shoudlnt pay attention to any such tom, dick and harry..

I don't think so. I suppose the objective behind the publication of those cartoons was to malign the prophet. And as a matter of fact some other papers republished them just to gain cheap publicity! I have tons of material on it. Tell me if u need them and i would recommend as they are really thought provoking...
